MEET THE FOUNDER

Day by day trauma therapy was birthed out of what felt like years of missteps, missed opportunities, heartbreak and even failure. However, what I have learned through this journey is that none of it has been wasted. Every heartache and life event, both good and bad, have brought me to a place where I am able to provide space for someone else when they need it. I have a unique work history that's provided me insight to a variety of situations and difficulty.

It is often said that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and while the thought often feels true—it minimizes people's pain. I hope to be able to provide space for people to develop healthier strategies, coping mechanisms, understanding of their reactions and moments of trauma.

We all have things in life that happen to us that change our course or path. Trauma is defined by how that event or events changes how your life works after that. Dr. Gabor Matè says, “Trauma is an invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds.”

Bad things are going to happen— it's the world we live in. It's how we engage with those things and what we do after that. One thing I have found to be profoundly true in my work is that the effects of trauma don't really ever go away. Our body may store them away and we feel like it's resolved. However, if we have not taken specific steps to walk through that trauma, it will show up in later life.
